Whole Numbers

1. Number Notation And Place Values
   • read and write numbers up to 10 million in numerals and in words
2. Multiplication And Division
   • multiply and divide numbers up to 4 digits by a 2-digit whole number
   • multiply and divide numbers by tens, hundreds and thousands
3. Approximation And Estimation
   • round off numbers to the nearest 1,000
     • includes use of the approximation symbol ‘≈’
     • estimate the answers in calculations involving addition, subtraction and multiplication
4. Order Of Operations
   • state the order of operations and carry out combined operations involving the 4 operations
     • includes use of brackets
5. Word Problems
   • solve word problems involving whole numbers
     • includes rounding off answers to a specified degree of accuracy

Mensuration

1. Conversion Of Measurements Involving Decimals And Fractions
   • convert measurements of length, mass, volume and time from a smaller unit of measure to a larger unit, and vice versa
     • excludes measurements involving decimals for time
     • numbers involved should be within easy manipulation
2. Volume Of A Cube/Cuboid
   • find one dimension of a cuboid given its volume and other dimensions
     • excludes finding the area of a face given its volume and one dimension
   • find the edge of a cube given its volume
     • excludes use of cube-root sign
   • solve up to 2-step word problems involving volume of a cube/cuboid and liquid
     • includes problems involving the height of water level in rectangular tank
     • excludes finding volume of solid by the volume of liquid displaced
3. Area Of A Triangle
   • use formula to find the area of a triangle
     • includes identifying the base and its corresponding height
     • excludes finding the base or height of a triangle given its area

   • read and interpret line graphs
     • excludes distance - time graphs
   • solve problems using information presented in line graphs

1. Addition And Subtraction
   • add and subtract:  mixed numbers  unlike fractions
     • includes listing of equivalent fractions to identify fractions with common denominator
     • denominators of given fractions should not exceed 12
2. Product Of Fractions
   • calculate the product of 2 fractions
     • excludes mixed numbers
3. Concept Of Fraction As Division
   • associate a fraction with division
     • includes conversion between fractions and decimals
4. Division Of A Proper Fraction By A Whole Number
   • divide a proper fraction by a whole number
5. Word Problems
   • solve word problems involving fractions

1. Multiplication And Division
   • multiply decimals up to 2 decimal places by a 2-digit whole number
     • includes checking reasonableness of answers by estimation
   • multiply and divide decimals up to 3 decimal places by tens, hundreds and thousands
     • excludes cases where the first non-zero digit in the answer is at the 4th decimal place such as 0.12 ÷ 1000 = 0.00012
   • solve word problems involving decimals
     • includes rounding off answers to a specified degree of accuracy
     • includes checking reasonableness of answers

1. Angles
   • identify and name:  angles on a straight line  angles at a point  vertically opposite angles
     • excludes angles between parallel lines such as alternate angles, interior angles, corresponding angles
     • excludes use of the terms ‘complementary’ and ‘supplementary’
   • recognise that angles on a straight line add up to 180° and angles at a point add up to 360°
   • recognise that vertically opposite angles are equal
   • find unknown angles involving:  angles on a straight line  angles at a point  vertically opposite angles
2. 8-Point Compass
   • tell direction in relation to the 8-point compass
3. Properties Of A Parallelogram, A Rhombus, A Trapezium And A Triangle
   • state and find unknown angles involving the properties of:  a parallelogram  a rhombus  a trapezium
     • excludes the term ‘diagonal’ and its related properties
     • excludes additional construction of lines
   • recognise and use the property that the angle sum of a triangle is 180°
     • excludes problems where the skill of solving equations is required
   • state and find unknown angles involving the properties of:  an isosceles triangle  an equilateral triangle  a right-angled triangle
   • recognise that the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the interior opposite angles
4. Geometrical Construction
   • draw squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombuses and triangles from given dimensions
     • use ruler, protractor and set squares
     • excludes cases where compasses are required
5. Tessellation
   • recognise shapes that can tessellate
   • identify the shape used in a tessellation
   • make different tessellations with a given shape
   • draw a tessellation on dot paper

       (ii) 2 : ? = 1 : 4
   • recognise equivalent ratios
   • reduce a given ratio to its lowest terms
     • includes reducing a : b : c to its lowest terms
   • solve up to 2-step word problems involving ratio
