Updated the PLSE Math Examination Format for 2009. The exam now consists of 2 papers. Calculators are allowed in Paper 2. Although the number and type of questions remains the same as in previous years, the overall duration of the exam increased by 15 minutes from 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes.

Updated the list of primary math books approved by Singapore's Ministry of Education for year 2009. Changes made to book list for Primary 6.

Revised question 2 from the previous posting on questions from the 2007 PSLE math questions (23 Oct 2007). Added another 2 questions from the PSLE math paper.

How do you teach a child to solve math problems? When teaching, we often dive straight in and explain the solution to our child and skip the all important first step.

We should encourage our children to be proficient in all the problem solving heuristics taught in school instead of focusing only on one or two of them.
